ABOUT THE ROLE
Our client, a large US renewables company, is seeking to hire a candidate with superior accounting experience for their FP&A team. You will work closely with multiple stakeholders to develop budgets, identify various budgetary inputs, and their YOY variances, and liaise with the business to resolve and determine solutions enabled by analytics.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Tasks
- Pull non-comp data from the general ledger
- Sort data into groupings that align with budget planning
- Organize data in a way that facilitates analysis & reporting
- Identify planned and unplanned expenditures
- Work with the FP&A team to update projected spending and future resource needs
- Work with other teams to review their cash-based cost trackers and reconcile with GAAP expenses (i.e., reconcile and explain differences in paying a license upfront vs. the amortization each period)
- Reconcile actuals from the detailed accounting file to our budget figures & mapping (meaning that the way the GL is organized presents differently than the budget)
Goals
- Get to a point where pulling the non-comp data, comparing it to the budget, and identifying unexpected/unplanned items
- Applying analytics to the data to be reviewed and expanded upon by the analysts
- Expand responsibilities to include KPIs and other systems (e.g., project tracking, forward-looking estimates, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS
- 3 – 5 years of proven work experience in corporate accounting and budgeting
- Heavy balance sheet experience preferred
- Solid ability to look at GL information and subsequent cost analysis
- GAAP vs IFRS capability a plus
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Bachelors in Accounting / Accounting equivalent is a requirement or relevant ork experience
- MS Office software proficiency
- Experience in BI tools a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment as well as work independently
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
- Professional command of English both written and verbal
